I am a former Executive Vice President, VP of Communications and VP of Administration at three Chambers of Commerce in the State of Florida. My husband Paul and I moved to beautiful Merida 11 years ago from beautiful Pensacola, FL. We love Merida and have enjoyed every moment spent here. We bought a restored Colonial in Centro and after five years, decided to move to the north part of town to the village of Cholul to experience a slower pace. We share our home with Lucy and Dolly, our two rescue gatitas. Merida is like being a kid in a candy shop as far as housing is concerned. I am a former Educator, Athletic Director and Football Coach with a career spanning 45 years in the State of Florida, Alabama and Georgia. I coached in college and high school and was recently inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at the University of Northwest Alabama. We initially visited Merida for a vacation, expecting it to be a one-time experience. However, Merida’s charm and allure have captivated us, making our visits more frequent and impossible to resist. We made the decision to move here eleven years ago. We have seen a lot of changes in those years but still find Merida to be a beautiful, friendly and safe city. I am Yucatecan by birth; however, at the age of 3, my family moved to the United States.
I grew up and was educated in Northern California. I graduated from one of the finest universities in California with a B.A. in Psychology (minor in Business Administration). I then went on to get my teaching credential – Kindergarten through 3rd grade. I worked for almost 30 years in the legal profession in California. I also got my certificate as a Translator/Interpreter (medical/legal fields) from the Monterey Institute of International Languages in California.
Twenty years ago I made the decision to come “home” and moved back to Merida, Yucatán. A few months after arriving in Merida, I taught all levels of English grammar in bilingual schools. However, I then decided to take advantage of my experience as a paralegal and started doing legal translations for attorneys here in Merida. As a bilingual and bicultural person, I helped Expats as a “liaison” when they were purchasing a home and dealing with everything involved in the process.I am a self-starter. I consider clients’ wants and desires foremost, working tirelessly to ensure that those wants and desires are met and exceeded. I believe in giving clients options so that they then have enough resources to make the best decisions for their individual situations.
Hello. I’m from California. My career was 28 years in real estate encompassing sales, finance and design. My interest in architecture, art, gardening, cooking and volunteering drew me to Mérida. Since arriving I’ve become involved with a number of volunteer opportunities, everything from food distribution, animal rescue and organizing a number of art programs. Giving back to my community is important to me.
